Straighten African Hair With Only A Flat Iron

rob maraby asked:

We get these questions often, how can I straighten my African hair with only a flat iron!

The best and most efficient way is to use a relaxer, this will ensue that the effects last a while, and then you can straighten it with a hot comb or flat iron

Bare in mind that Africa hair is very coarse and will take a lot of heat to straighten it which means you will be inflicting damage on your hair and worse still your scalp and hair roots

Other things you have to watch out for is humidity, when you have straightened your hair , your hair will start reverting back to its natural coarse and curly state and will usually remain straight only until you wash your hair

There are many heat protectant products you can use to help straighten your African hair. But bear in mind that again your hair is not likely to stay that way.

If you want a more permanent straighten effect be sure to go to a professional hair stylist

Who knows what they are doing and they usually have really good

straighteners there that work for African hair : I advice you avoid the generic ceramic used to straighten African hair- you are better off getting it done professionally

Be warned, African hair is great hair but it is not designed to be straightened and black people usually use too much product on their hair that is downright harmful

If you use a relaxer or any kind of chemical based hair product, be sure to detoxify your hair with Mira hair oil! You should leave your hair as natural as you can! If you chose to straighten your hair make sure you have periods in which you leave your hair o natural, this will minimize hair loss and scalp damage from hair straightening products usage

Good luck!
